IndiFest 2011 - Invitation

Dear All

IndiFest is back again with more festivity and fun.

It’s time to break the lethargy of the winter. And to do this here’s an upcoming cultural event with lots of activities to regain your energies. The IndiFest 2011 is a festive celebration of the New Year of all Indian communities.

Thanks for your wonderful particpation on the Pre-Events day at The Hindu Cultural Resource Centre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford - TF4 2AZ on the Sunday, 3rd April, 2011. Here are the results for kids.

If you missed these pre-events there is still a chance to participate in few upcoming competitions. So please contact us if you are interested.

Recorded Talent for Kids

Picture based Writing competition deadline extended to April 23rd, 1pm!!!

The main event is scheduled to happen at Castle Farm Community Centre, High St, Hadley, Telford, Shropshire TF1 5NL on 24th April, 2011

Please send a video of your child (should be under 5 years old) that has been recorded at home as a CD or in a memory stick or could be uploaded online . The video could be singing, dancing or any funny act that you think is appropriate. Due date is 15th of April 2011

We request all participants to be at the event place 30mins prior to the start of the event(s) they are participating.

The deadline has been extended till Saturday 23rd April, 1 pm

Based on the above picture write a story/poem and email your entries by Thursday 21st April, 2011 midnight (BST).

Here are some rules:

Genre: Can be anything

Word-limit: 500

Send an email with the subject: Picture-based writing contest

Entry should consist of:

1)Title of the entry (does not count into the word limit)

2)Your Name

3)Story/Poem :Can be entirely fictional or based on a real-life incident

Note: Please post your entry directly into the mail and not send it as an attachment such as a word documents.

Winning entries will be selected based on the compliance to rules, entertainment value, pacing, language & craft of the story.

Please note that the contest is for Adults but children also are welcome to send in their entries which will be considered for an appreciation prize/certificate.

When: contest starts Thursday 14th April, 2011 and will end on Thursday 21st April, 2011 at midnight (BST).

Painting - kids

When: Sunday, the 3rd April 2011

Time: 12:00 noon to 12:30pm

Where: The Hindu Cultural Resource Centre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford - TF4 2AZ

There will be two groups

5-7yrs – Can paint anything.

8-12yrs – Will be Given a theme.

Participants need to bring their own (water) color pencils. Papers will be provided.

Caroms - Adults

When: Sunday the 3rd April 2011

Time: To be started at 3pm - Time may vary as per how long the other pre-events take

Where: The Hindu Cultural Resource Centre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford - TF4 2AZ

Participants will be paired into teams by way of lots. General rules apply

Rangoli - Adults

When: Sunday the 3rd April 2011

Time: 2:40pm - 3:10pm

Where: The Hindu Cultural Resource Centre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford - TF4 2AZ

Participants will bring their own material – the thali for rangoli will be provided

Cooking

How :

Bring a dish that is prepared at home which complies with the below rules.

When:

Sunday 3rd April, 2010 time 12:30 - 12:45pm

Where:

The Hindu Cultural Resource Centre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford, TF4 2AZ

The rules:

Make a dish with baby-corn as the main ingredient and bring it to the venue. Rest of the ingredients should be suitable for vegetarians but can be choosen by yourself

Points will be awarded based on the following crietria: Taste, Presentation, Creativity, Compliance to Rules.

Submit your recipe along with the dish to the judges. The recipe should contain name of the dish, a list of all the ingredients you have used along with the measurements and method of preparation. Please bring this to the event in a piece of paper.

Singing - for Adults and kids

When: Sunday the 3rd April 2011

Time: 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Where: The Hindu Cultural Resource Centre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford - TF4 2AZ

Each participant will be given 5-7 minutes.

Relay Stacking

When: Sunday the 3rd April 2011

Time: 11:40am - 12:00noon

Where: The Hindu Cultural Resource Centre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford - TF4 2AZ

A team of two children will try to place a pack of disposable plates and bowls.

Stringing the Beads

When: Sunday the 3rd April 2011

Time: 11:10am -11:30am

Where: The Hindu Cultural Resource Ceintre, Bank Road, Dawley Bank, Telford - TF4 2AZ

Children will be paired (one older child (above 8) with one younger child (5-7) as a team they will string 20 beads in a minute.

Time: 10:30am - 11:00am

Details: Every child will be given 10 seconds to eat grapes – the child who eats the maximum will win.
